Exploring the Herbig-Haro object HH 46/47 with ALMA (fulldome)

This fulldome video shows HH 46/47, a complex of Herbig-Haro objects, as revealed by observations acquired with the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA). The image recorded with ESO's New Technology Telescope (NTT) in visible light is enhanced by looking at the object in the millimetre and submillimetre wavelength range with ALMA.

The ALMA observations (orange and green) of the newborn star reveal a large energetic jet moving away from us, which is hidden by dust and gas in the visible part of the spectrum. The visible part of the jet is seen in pink and purple, streaming partly towards us.
