Early galaxies

Galaxies group in clusters and super clusters and these into larger filaments, hundreds of light-years across. Thanks to powerful machines such as the ESO Very Large Telescope (VLT), we can observe very distant galaxies and therefore, see how the Universe was like at its early beginnings and how it has evolved up to the present time.
