ESO Photo Ambassador Babak Tafreshi at ESO's Paranal site. Here is home to ESO’s Very Large Telescope (VLT), the world’s most advanced ground-based facility for astronomy. Shown here is the 4.1-metre Visible and Infrared Survey Telescope for Astronomy (VISTA), a survey telescope working at infrared wavelengths, and is by far the largest telescope in the world dedicated to surveying the sky at near-infrared wavelengths.
